Several weeks ago I spent the day at Horner's Corner in Wisconsin learning about how to make maple syrup. Steve Horner just wrapped up this season's harvest making a record-setting 950 gallons of syrup. It's my favorite syrup. If you live in or near Minneapolis and want to try it yourself, he sells the syrup and seasonal fruit at the Mill City Farmers Market.
Visual stories from my life and work.
I recently filmed Chef Gary Krasner, of Urban Eatery, making his delicious "pieroganoff" as part of a bigger, but still secret, project with Gentleman Forager. He put on quite a show with plenty of flames and fabulous flips. I highly recommend a visit to his restaurant to enjoy this special beef stroganoff/pierogi combination – especially on a cold winter night.
This short video came about as a collaboration between myself and my friends Jaime Chismar, a designer, and Robyn Dochterman, a chocolatier. Each autumn Robyn makes these edible chocolate pumpkins, all are hand-painted and unique. We wanted to show them off on social media, so we photographed them all and created this fun video.
My kind-hearted, cat-loving friend Kelly is fostering nine kittens and the mother cat for several weeks. She's a volunteer "cat cuddler" – such a sweet job – at Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. I made this short video for her on a recent visit to meet the kittens.
Fall in Minneapolis was spectacular this year – warm days, gorgeous color and glowing sunsets. I made this video on a walk one afternoon at Silverwood Park while practicing handheld camera movement. I'm also experimenting with adding my handwriting to some of my videos.
